Girl at the Rock Shows

It always breaks my heart to get a single from a band that has been out for awhile but never got the promotion that it deserved. It’s not that the band did something wrong or anything like that but, as we all know, life gets in the way sometimes and I think that’s exactly what happened to “Hot Shit” from Midnite Special. This song came out last month but it just didn’t hit in the way I feel like it should have so I’m here to introduce you to this amazing single and band even though it’s not necessarily a “new” track.

The first song that Midnite Special recorded for his EP “Self-Help”, this song tells a tale as old as time. It’s a song about that urge to compare yourself to those around you and how it can overwhelm you to the point where you almost feel obsolete and just completely inadequate. It’s a message that we can all relate to but what makes this song so great is how you can feel the angst that comes with this feeling in such a perfect way. It give you an outlet to get the rage that this feeling creates inside of you while leaving you with a triumphant energy that reminds you that, although we all do this, you can’t get lost in those thoughts. “Hot Shit” is angsty and full of life but it’s also full of this feeling of comfort that will do so much for your mental health. Whether or not today is a day that you find yourself driving down a road of despair as you scroll through your socials and hear friends talk about all of the fun times they had over the weekend, or you’re just having a “meh” kind of day, “Hot Shit” will hit you and will hit you hard.
