Today has been rough. I’m not going to lie. It’s already lunch time and I’m just now getting around to checking out some new music. I haven’t even made a dent in my unread emails that I neglected over the weekend. I have a stack of reviews done today and just got approved for the show I wanted to cover tonight. Don’t get me wrong, I’m stoked for what is sure to be another banger of a show tonight but I’m feeling overwhelmed, defeated, and ready for a nap. I need to snap out of it. Today could be a good day if I could just get my head in the game. Here’s to hoping checking out “Fall and Rot Tonight” from Forge the Sun does just that.
“Fall and Rot Tonight” is an intense song that blends everything from metal to hardcore and all the way to death metal into the span of just under four minutes. Although aggressive, loud, and, quite frankly, angry, there are glimmers of true uniqueness scattered throughout this song. There were some classic rock moments, some riffs that had a bit of an almost blues influence behind them, and some more commercialized razzle dazzles. Long story short, “Fall and Rot Tonight” from Forge the Sun is not just a rollercoaster ride of emotions and intensity, it’s a roller coaster ride of genres and it’s brilliant. The intensity of this song gave me just what I think I need to get my head back in the game. If you’re struggling today like I am, take a breather, turn your volume all the way up, press play on “Fall and Rot Tonight”, and take some deep breaths as Forge the Sun helps soothe your soul in a very non-traditional way.
