I hope your day is trucking along like mine is. It’s speeding by which is a bit frustrating since I still have a laundry list of things to get done (along with laundry funnily enough) but I’m getting things done and staying level headed. Just in case you’re having a bit of a rougher go at this Monday, go ahead and take a break and check out “Not Worth the Prayer” from HawkBit.
The guitar tone that kicks this track off instantly had me caught. It’s intense and abrasive but almost southern hard rock inspired. It’s odd as I don’t typically catch onto guitar parts like I did when it came to the intro of this song but that’s besides the point. As this song progresses, the vocals come in and they weren’t at all what I was expected. The vocals are smooth and soft with a hint of darkness and an air of mystery. As the song continues, those vocals turn even darker and more aggressive almost bridging into a primal and desperate scream. There’s a tug of war that drives this song forward and until the end giving “Not Worth the Prayer” such a perfect ebb and flow between harsh reality and dreamy soundscapes. Whether you’re having a good day or could use a little pick me up, something in this track from HawkBit will surely speak to your soul.
