I’ll be honest, I almost didn’t open the email I got from pop-punk duo iNTeRNeT FReNDz. Something about the layout of the way they stylize their name gave me PTSD from back in the Myspace days. I honestly think my mouse slipped and that’s how I ended up opening their email but, trust me when I say, I’m sure glad I did. iNTeRNeT FReNDz had just dropped their new track “You Give Me Something” which is part of their ‘Rumors EP’ which just dropped a couple of weeks ago. Although I was definitely a little late to the party and made you eve later to it due to the holidays and me falling behind on work during a few days off, I’m here to introduce you to this amazing band the only way I know how– but asking them a million questions that have nothing to do with their music but are the questions we all want to know the answers to. So, without further delay, let’s see what’s going on with Rossy and Michael of iNTeRNeT FReNDz!
What’s the best combination of toppings on a pizza?
Rossy: Pepperoni and more Pepperoni. I want some much crispy pepperoni that I can’t see the cheese, so I can pick off the excess pepperoni first and eat it as a starter.
What’s your go-to purchase at a gas station (outside of gas) when on a road trip?
Michael: Gotta give a shout out to those Lenny & Larry’s Complete Cookies because those things are a vegan lifesaver for me on the road.
Everyone says that every crowd is their favorite but, what city has the best audience and why is it Minneapolis?
Rossy: Well, we haven’t played a show yet as iNTeRNeT FReNDz but from previous shows I CAN confirm that MInneapolis crowds go hard. You also have a mall with a roller coaster in it so that’s cool.
Did you guys actually meet on the internet like your band name would indicate?
Michael: We actually did. Thanks, TikTok. Rossy found me on the app and shot me a DM. Now here we are!!
What’s your go-to coffee order?
Rossy: I don’t drink coffee and I’ve never tried it. I don’t like warm liquid in my mouth.
Michael: I DON’T KNOW why Rossy tried to answer a coffee question. I’m the coffee FReND. The answer is cold brew or an iced americano.
What’s the worst concert you’ve ever been to and why?
Michael: It was mostly a good day, but I passed out due to heat stroke at Warped one year. It was awful. BUT I BOUNCED BACK.
Favorite lyrics of all time?
Rossy: There’s too many great lyrics to mention but off the top of my head I’d say the entire chorus of Don’t Look Back In Anger by Oasis. I love Oasis, they’re my favorite band of all time but I love the chorus just as much because if you read the lyrics like a poem they don’t mean anything, but for some reason you feel it.
What’s your favorite menu item at Taco Bell?
Michael: Cheesy Bean and Rice Burrito, hold the cheese and jalapeño sauce, add red sauce and potato. It’s the only way.
If you were to rob a bank, what would be the song playing in the getaway car as you escape?
Rossy: AC/DC – Highway To Hell. This would also be my funeral song.
What’s the best concert you’ve ever been to?
Michael: I saw Architects in a smaller venue a few years back and it was crazy. The light show was nuts and Sam might be the best live vocalist in the scene. It was amazing.
You’re stuck on an 8-hour road trip through the most boring part of the country– what celebrity would you like to be stuck with and why?
Rossy: Right now, I’d probably say Theo Von. That guy seems to be on another planet and I wanna pick his brain to see how it works for 8 hours. I’d probably go all out and wear a lab coat and take notes on a clipboard too.
If you could compare yourself to an animal, what would it be and why?
Michael: I’ll say sloth but I’m not happy about it. People say that I am SLOTH LIKE because my eyes are far apart and I’m slow af.
What’s your favorite video game and why?
Rossy: I don’t play video games too much these days, but if I had to choose one I’d say the remake of Tony Hawks Pro Skater 1+2. I was actually ranked in the top 5000 players in the world at one point… Then I realized I had too much time on my hands to achieve that and made some friends instead.
What was the first concert you ever went to?
Michael: Backstreet Boys, right when Millenium came out. It was so wild. They came in from the ceiling on these fake hoverboards and it was so sick.
Your second single from your upcoming ‘Rumors EP’ came out on Friday! What made “You Give Me Something” your pick for the second single here?
Rossy: Personally, I think it’s the strongest track on the EP and I like it when we release our strongest track second… Reel everyone back in with a banger like Go Your Own Way and then hit them with the right hook as the second track. Then it’s all downhill from there haha.
I know that you have only been a band for a couple of months at this point but you’re clearly grinding with one EP already out there and this one coming up. What’s next for Internet Frendz?
Michael: More of the same! We just tracked a few more singles with Courtney Ballard last month, so we’re gonna keep it going.
Who would you say was the biggest influence on the five songs as a whole that make up this upcoming EP? Does it differ from the main influence behind “You Give Me Something”?
Rossy: When it comes to the writing process I’m always influenced by great Pop Music. I couldn’t tell you exactly what influenced the writing process on the Rumors EP but I can tell you that Michael has gotten me obsessed with Sabrina Carpenter so she’s been a big influence on on the next EP’s songs have been written.
Rumor has it, this song has a strange backstory about how it came to be. Can you tell people a bit more about that (here’s looking at you, Rossy!)?
Rossy: I tried magic mushrooms for the first time and it was. a very strange experience. I didn’t really enjoy it in the moment… I was just staring at the floor because I couldn’t understand why my concrete paving was suddenly illuminous orange haha. But the next morning felt really great… I guess the mushrooms had a last afterglow effect on me so I sat down and wrote You Give Me Something.
What pop-punk band do you wish would reunite and do a tour for the first time in years?
Michael: I’d have to say Panic! At The Disco, but they are BACK for When We Were Young next year so that rules.
Is there anything else you would like to share with everyone?
Michael: TO ANYONE READING THIS: We love you. THANKS FOR BEING OUR FReNDz. <3
Honestly, I was half expecting the duo to write all of their answers in the same lowercase/ uppercase battle that seems to be happening with their band name but was so relieved to see that was not the case. I was also more than relieved to see that both Rossy and Michael have a sense of humor and, more importantly, a sense of heart. You get that in these questions but you will feel it harder if you check out any of the songs off of their new ‘Rumors EP’ or any of the other singles that this duo has out there. iNTeRNeT FReNDz may have just recently gotten together and started making music but I can already tell that it’s just a matter of time before everyone is talking about them so jump on this train now!
