Although today has been off to a good start, I’m feeling restless. I can’t seem to settle into a song, a band, or even a genre this morning and find myself bouncing from anything to everything just hoping something will stick. I feel like my shares of new music will mirror that today so let’s get weird with it and check out something that is a bit out of my normal wheelhouse but still hits hard.
There’s something very soft, tender, and vulnerable about Isaac Neilson’s voice and lyricism yet this song, “Dated a Daydream” comes off as infectiously energetic and full of life. I love that and feel like the three minutes spent with this song was the first three minutes of my day where everything else stood still. It was just me, this song, and the airy and light feeling that it left in my head and chest. Honestly, the theme of this song is a bit dark. The song is a slight reflection on a great relationship that ended in an utter train wrekc but, honestly, you may not pick up on that with just how straight-up fun this song is. That’s the magic and charm in this track. Although definitely a bit lighter and more indie-pop feeling than I tend to share out, I have a feeling that “Dated a Daydream” from Isaac Neilson will absolutely hit the spot for you right now.
