I have so much work to today but I’m currently going down a rabbithole of gift buying for the holidays. Honestly, I stink at gift giving and rely more on jokes than “actual” gifts but it makes it fun and a wee bit less frustrating than normal shopping. That being said, I’ve come to a dead end in my thoughts and, really, should probably shift my focus and energy back into work mode. Let’s see if “Take the Stage” from One Up can help me with this transition.

“Take the Stage” is a bombastic and anthemic jam that instantly breathed a sense of life and motivation into me that I so badly needed. Definitely a pop-punk perfect kind of bop, I instantly fell in love with the almost rebellious spirit that comes through in this song. There are plenty of ups and downs throughout this three-minute song that give the track a very playful energy but the heart felt vocals keep this as a fairly serious song and one that’s so easy to fall into. The fresh brightness of the instrumentation only highlights the lyrics that seem to describe how it feels to “Take the Stage” and feel the heat of a spotlight on you. Although I’m the type of person that likes to stay fairly behind the scenes when it comes to concerts and what not, I felt like I could really relate to the lyrics because it was a reminder to take that leap, jump into it, conquer the stage and apologize for nothing.
