Well, like it or not, it’s “Inauguration Day”. I don’t like it. Chances are you don’t either (solely based off the fact that you are reading this blog which is probably a little judgey but oh well). I’m doing everything I can to not get suck into the news or get lost in the commentary surrounding today so it’s been one of those “keep you head down and just keep working” kinds of days. That being said, I feel like I should at least give this day a nod and checking out a song named “Inauguration Day” seems like the perfect way.

“Inauguration Day” from Combo Move, is the perfect song for today not just because of the name of it, but also because of the lyrical content. As the band puts it, “This song is about feeling like you were betrayed by your working class peers, through an election, in exchange for corporatism and oligarchical control.” I think that’s a pretty dead on way of explaining how a lot of us are feeling right now. Although I absolutely love the message behind this song, it’s the way the message is delivered that really struck me. There’s a sense of panicked desperation throughout this song matched with an odd feeling of grief and sadness with certain phrases. It’s a constant up and down of feelings but, overall, the track comes off as slightly defeated but very angsty an even abrasive at times. If you’re like me and just trying to get away from everything happening today as if to slightly save your own sanity, try turning the volume all the way up and checking out “Inauguration Day” from Combo Move
