It’s one of those days where I can’t decide what kind of listening mood I’m in. I’ve been through a strange Uncle Tupelo dive and have now moved on to listening to Palefact Swiss’ new album (which is amazing). Although both listening rabbit holes have been great, they haven’t quite hit the spot, so I need to cleanse the palette (for lack of a better term) and see if checking something new out helps me settle into a sound for the day.

“Autumn Leaves” from Vesper Rose starts off beautifully with an almost eerie guitar riffs that gets layers upon layers of emotion added on top of it as the song progresses. After nearly a minute, you finally hear the sheer intensity and power of Vesper Rose. It’s a little Avenged Sevenfold with a little more of a post-hardcore influence in the vocals and an almost industrial eeriness behind it all. Although something about this song felt ever so dated to me (slightly glam rock inspired in an odd way), Vesper Rose had me hooked and waiting to see what would come next in this genuinely dynamic track. I don’t think that listening to “Autumn Leaves” has helped me figure out what I’m in the mood to listen to but it has lead me down another rabbit hole that is Vesper Rose.
