We made it to Thursday which means it’s almost time for the weekend but we aren’t quite there yet. I’m feeling impatient and so ready for a day where I don’t have to come to the day job so I’m going to treat today like it’s not just another workday and, instead, a day of celebration and what better way to kick off a day of celebration than with a new track from Thirsty Curses.
“Reading & Writing” is one of those tracks that will make you stop everything and pay attention, which is perfect for such an important track. “Reading & Writing” is part of Thirsty Curses’ ongoing campaign against illiteracy. Whether or not that’s the part of this song that you choose to latch onto, this track will have you hooked. It’s a very folk-punk-styled track in the vein of Jeff Rosenstock. It’s a bit hollow regarding the instrumentation, yet it brings so much drama to the table that it’s impossible to just work through this song while it plays in the background. I’ve heard many songs from Thirsty Curses before, as I truly adore this band, but this one in particular stands out to me due to the theatrics behind the song. Maybe this one isn’t for you. That’s okay! Thirsty Curses is the kind of band that doesn’t linger in just one style for long, so even if you’re not digging this more folksy track of theirs, I highly suggest you check out some of their other material out there.
