I’m not going to say that I’ve given up on the week at all but I’m done being overly stressed over the fact that there are just not enough hours in the day. Instead of trying to race to the finish line, I’m adopting a slow and steady pace and just going to keep on trucking along without freaking out that I didn’t get everything accomplished that I wanted to this week. I say this now, in a few hours, I’m sure I’ll be back to my normal stressed to the brim self but, right now, I’m feeling good and ready to take in some new music.
I stumbled upon Fly Right now only through their single, “The Line,” but also because they just opened for Hidden in Plain View’s anniversary show in Los Angeles. That was a show that I really debated figuring out how to make it out there logistically, but at the end of the day, I just couldn’t swing it. That’s such a bummer. Not only am I obsessed with Hidden in Plain View and so glad to see they are back (even if only for a few shows here and there), but I am not completely in love with Fly Right. “The Line” is a perfect example of the pop-punk perfection that Fly Right has to offer. It’s fresh and infectious, but also absolutely a callback to the early 2000s pop punk movement. This track, in particular, is full of power but also brings an emotionally charged highlight to this Los Angeles-based band, which will surely be the next big thing in no time.
