It’s such a gloomy and rainy day up here in Minneapolis. It’s the perfect day to be napping and lounging around the house, but, honestly, who has time for that? I need music to brighten my day up. Don’t get me wrong, it’s been a good day and I’m feeling fresh and rejuvenated (or at least as fresh and rejuvenated as I can get), I just need that extra kick in the butt for me to continue being productive today and “Babe Ruth” from Shufelt is doing just the trick.
“Babe Ruth” is a perfect pop-punk track. The story behind this track is, honestly, a bit insane. As the band puts it, “tells the true story about how Babe Ruth destroyed my family. My great-grandfather was the wealthiest man in a small town who valued drinking more than work and his family. He struck up an affair with actress Evelyn Keyes and his best friend and drinking buddy, Babe Ruth, convinced him to leave with him. My family lost it all, the store, the fortune, and any respect from the community they lived in, and had to build their name and carve a better path.” Truthfully, that all sounds too insane to be true, but based on the passion and ferocity that comes attached to every beat and word of this infectious jam, I’ll believe it. On top of that, this message of recovery and resilience is just so quintessentially pop-punk just adding to the perfection of the track. Whether you want to get lost in this wild story or just get lost in a fun song that will surely bring a little sunshine to your day, check out “Babe Ruth” from Shufelt now!
