This past weekend was a dream. Covering 62 local bands in just two days was absolutely amazing, albeit exhausting and, after a day off to recover, I’m back at it and ready to discover some new music to help me get through the rest of this week before I get some more time to recover (although I’m not sure that I will ever really fully recover from the insanity of it all). Let’s just jump right in and start checking out some new music, starting with “Tightrope Act” from Tourniquets.
“Tightrope Act” is the debut single from this band, and it has me so excited to see and hear what else comes from this band. This song is intense and powerful, but stops short of feeling overly aggressive, which is what really caught my ear. It’s slightly post-hardcore, slightly 90s alt-rock, and all swagger creating the perfect soundtrack to kick your butt in gear to get things done today. I love that, although this song is far from commercial, there’s this almost anthemic quality to it that makes it an earworm that is inescapable, but with a song this well done and perfectly polished, why would you want to escape it?
