I know it’s hard to believe, but I am actually not a super social person. Sure, I have my friends, but it’s a small group and, although I am lost in crowds at concerts night after night, I really enjoy just sitting at home, alone, with the cats. This has nothing to do with “POINT NEMO” from The Rarely Social, other than the fact that I instantly related to the name of this band. Don’t let this terrible and slightly tortured intro stop you from checking this song out. “POINT NEMO” is nothing short of an anthemic bop.
The Rarely Social is a trio post-emo band from Glasgow, Scotland. They haven’t been around for that long in the grand scheme of things, as they began writing together in 2021, but something about this song feels so polished and so put together. It’s your standard post-emo sound with glittery guitars that seem to dance along strong drums and almost juxtapose the raw vocals that tell a tale as old as time. I know nothing about that sounds super new or innovative, and, truthfully, it’s not. I could tell you a million bands that this song reminds me of, but at the end of the day, nothing is an exact match. Maybe it’s the way the members of this trio work together, maybe it’s the emotion that comes dripping from every note and every beat, something about “POINT NEMO” from The Rarely Social has me hooked, and I promise that, after just one listen, it will have you hooked too.
