I just found out that I won’t be photographing or reviewing Marilyn Manson in Minneapolis on Friday night. Apparently, he doesn’t want or need the press. Truthfully, I’m not shocked but I am a little bummed. I know he has his problems and definitely lives in an air of controversy but he was one of the first acts to get me into heavy music and there just would have been something slightly full circle about covering him on Friday. I’m bummed but will not let it ruin my day so, instead of dwelling on disappointment, let’s check out “Without You” from Gabe Woodrow.
From pro-Motocross racing to music, Gabe Woodrow puts all of his heart into everything he does and you can fell that in “Without You.” Although this is your standard emo-leaning pop-punk anthem, there’s something that feels just a bit more electric about this song compared to others in the genre. The dynamics of this track are all over the place and definitely tell the story of the lyrics in a perfect way. What is that story? Come on, you know I won’t give that up so easily but will say it’s a pretty standard pop-punk tale. I love how, depending on your mood, this can be a pick-me-up kind of song or something more meant to comfort and hold you. Either way, I have a feeling that after just one listen to “Without You,” Gabe Woodrow will steal a little piece of your heart and, truthfully, he deserves it with this amazing track.
