Happy Wednesday, everyone. I was at a great show last night and tonight is one of my all-time favorite bands, so, although just Wednesday, I’m giving off weekend vibes. I feel like I’m working at warped speed just trying to get through the day as quickly as possible so I can get to my show tonight. I’m not caught up quite yet, but I’m getting there and feel like now is a perfect time to take a little breather and check out the first single of the day.

Like so many other songs that come across my desk, “Gravity” from PPLCTRL came with no background. I can’t tell you anything about what this song is really about or who PPLCTRL is, but I can tell you that none of that matters. This song had me hooked instantly with the super heavy beat that kicks it off. The severity of it gave me industrial vibes, but as the song moves on and the vocals come in, I realized this is more of an alt-rock anthem than a dark industrial track. It’s a cool blend PPLCTRL showcases in this song, and I feel like the way the vocals feel a bit weightless against the instrumentation’s heaviness is beyond brilliant. Don’t get me wrong, there are moments when the vocal power seems to match everything else, but those moments come and go as if shards of glass sticking out of nowhere. Do you ever have dreams about flying? This is the soundtrack for those dreams, so what are you waiting for? Check it out and show PPLCTRL some love.
