I’ve never been a motorcycle kind of gal. Honestly, they scare the piss out of me. I like to be in cars where the pavement isn’t right there and where I just feel like I have a bit more control, but I get it. I get the freedom that comes with cruising down a road on a bike, and I get the obsession that bikers have with said bikes. I respect it. Heck, I sometimes envy it. That’s kind of what “Boy With A Bike” from Giana Mae is about. It’s about wanting someone to be as obsessed with you as a biker is with their motorcycle.
“Boy With A Bike” is a swagger-filled anthem full of piss and vinegar. That attitude is what really drew me into this track. With slamming drums, distorted guitars, and shouted vocals, Gianna Mae brings her own brand of “Pink collar pop-rock” to life in this song, with a side dish of attitude, and it’s so perfect. There’s a little bit of 90s pop-grunge in this song that instantly reminded me of Gwen Stefani, but the attitude front and center throughout this quick, two-and-a-half-minute song reminded me more of modern acts like Lambrini Girls or Destroy Boys. I should have so much more to say about this song because I found it to be super unique and fresh, but at the same time, “Boy With A Bike” from Gianna Mae speaks for itself, so just take a listen.
