Yeah, okay, I’m sure you already know why I was hooked on this track. I mean, just look at the song title but, beyond that hilarious title, Danvers’ “There’s No ‘I’ In A Modern Country Cover Band” is truly just a flawless track.
Kicking off with heavy hitting drums before almost dream-like guitars take over, I instantly loved the contradictions laid out in the beginning of this track. It almost feels like an internal struggle. Although the drums aren’t super aggressive or anything like that, there’s a power to them that seems to juxtapose the jangly and optimistic guitar work in a perfect way. As if that wasn’t enough of a selling point, I was whisked away into a blissful calm as the locals came in. Much like everything else going on in the track, the vocals are sweet but carry a sense of weight and power to them which cannot be understated.
Although this song is a bit long (it’s four and a half minutes long), there are twists and turns throughout the song which keep it feeling fresh and keep your ears and heart engaged throughout.
