I hope you all had a wonderful holiday weekend and got to take some time to just relax a bit. I did but now I am reeling from the amount of work I’ve fallen behind on. Although I’m getting it done, that gloomy feeling of never being able to catch up is starting to take over so I need a little breather which means it’s time to check out some new music.
“The Escapist” from Mayleaf fit my mood perfectly. This grungy and alt-rock based track with metal tendencies gave me a boost of energy while also giving me a chance to just sit and enjoy the sound of the music in a perfect way. There’s a slight sound of fuzz throughout this track that gives it that more grungy vibe but the crystal clear vocals and the strength that comes with said vocals makes it hard for me to consider this a grunge song. The blend of genres throughout this track is clear but also confusing making it a truly captivating track all the way through the three minutes and twelve seconds that it lasts. Beyond the stark changes in influence throughout, you also get a rollercoaster ride of emotion with the way this song is laid out. Long story short, “The Escapist” from Mayleaf is one of those songs that you just have to hear for yourself so what are you waiting for?
