I typically don’t like cover songs. I especially don’t like cover songs of a song that I already find ridiculously cheesy. That being said, I think we can all admit that, at one point or another, we cried to “Over My Head (Cable Car)” from The Fray. It is a very pretty piece of art but I feel like it got so overplayed and quickly became nothing more than cliche– until Pespi re-did it and created a truly stunning cover.
This cover definitely has the same amount of heart and passion that the original did but it speeds things up a bit and adds a sense of energy that made me see this song in a whole new light. I love the way Pespi has this sounding very close to the original with the way each note and beat is drenched with heart but, at the same, makes it clear that this is a re-imagination of the iconic song. This cover is the first of three singles to come out from Pespi and I, for one, am so excited to hear the two originals that accompany this track.
