Anxiety is a b****. No other way to put it. I know I have anxiety and although it’s something I struggle with from day to day, it’s also something that I am constantly trying to improve about myself. Whether it’s taking more time to breath, setting up more sturdy boundaries, taking moments out of my day to get out of my head– I’m trying but I also know that anxiety will also just be something that I have to deal with. I’m not alone in this camp and hearing “Settled Down” from Ate Bit helped me find a bit of solace in the reminder that I am not the only one who feels like they are in a constant battle with their own head.

“Settled Down” seems to have the perfect blend of modern pop-punk and a more nostalgic 90s vibe. It’s right up my alley but beyond the hookiness I felt in the music is the heart in each word. This song is about struggling with anxiety and trying to hard to find comfort in isolation. It talks about coming to terms with the fact that you may have anxiety but that it doesn’t control you and that’s a sentiment that I need to hear more often than not. All of this, the catchiness of the beat of this song and the heart in the words and delivery of said words, creates an anthemic jam that will surely hit you hard in the chest but also give you a sense of hope and strength in this world that, at times, can feel and seem to bleak.
