“Cigarettes” from Burp. came with a lot of accolades and comparisons. Two of my favorite were: “Burp., also known as The Beatles of Lowell”, and, “If you like music, there’s about a 47% chance you’ll like Burp.” Obviously, this band had already won over my heart with their subtle sense of self-deprecating humor (at least, that’s how I took it) and I honestly couldn’t wait to check out their new track “Cigarettes”.

I love the grit that comes behind this song. It feels very in the vein of Vundbar and Pup with it’s perfectly imperfect unpolished fuzz. It’s that fuzz that gives this already energetic song a burst of flavor that will definitely have you hooked on first listen. Although I definitely pick up on the energy behind this song, I also really like how chill it is. For how manic I’ve been today and how I seem to be letting stress get the best of me, I loved how “Cigarettes” was able to calm me down if only for the three minutes and eleven seconds that the song lasts.
