My day just took a turn for the worst. As a booking agent, cancellations are just part of the game but I have been plagued by them lately and I just got hit with a giant blog from a client who now wants me to cancel everything I had booked for them. I’m frustrated and feeling defeated but I can’t let it get the best of me. All I can do is take a break and hope a new song turns things around for me.

“Sunscreen” from Ax and the Hatchetmen is a post-breakup song about loneliness, isolation, and all of those kinds of feelings. You wouldn’t know this unless you pay attention to the words though. This a super upbeat and boppy track with a very The Strokes retro-vibe to it that will instantly get stuck in your head and brighten your day up. “Sunscreen” is just what I needed because it brought a smile to my face but also gave me almost three minutes to just breathe and reflect on everything and anything. Ax and the Hatchetmen have a great sound that demands to be heard and this song is a prime example of the restrained power of this band. The band promises more to come in the near future and I, for one, will be waiting impatiently for whatever that “more” is.
