Something is off today. I don’t know what it is, but something is off. Honestly, something has been off for weeks at this point but today just feels weird. It’s not a bad day. Honestly, I’m feeling great, getting stuff done, and keeping my head up but something just feels “off”. I need to snap out of it because, if I dwell on this odd feeling too long, it will surely mess up the rest of my day. Thankfully, “5150” from The Honesty is the perfect distraction.

The Honesty is a Sacramento based punk band with such a brilliant and original sound. This song in particular has influences that range from the hard punk vibe of bands like Rancid and Face to Face but then go all the way to the pop-punk greats like Hit The Lights and New Found Glory. Add a slight hardcore influence slightly reminiscent of that of Four Year Strong and you are left with an infectious anthem. “5150” comes at you with a super catchy hook, moments that will make you want two two-step, and others that will have you standing up and screaming your lungs out. This is one of those “choose your own adventure” type songs. You can get lost in your feelings as you find comfort in the poignant lyrics or just get lost in the waves of sounds that take over. Regardless, you will get lost in The Honesty’s world after just one listen and, truly, it’s not a bad place to be lost in.
