I’m trying my best to keep my head above water right now as I try and get back up to speed on all of my work after being gone all weekend but it’s getting harder and harder as the day goes on. I’m getting more tired, more frustrated, more stressed and just ready to throw in the towel but, as always, that’s not an option, so let’s check out a new track and see if that can snap me out of it.
“Supermum!” from the trio Adore is just what I needed. This fiery track is full of life and fun. It’s a danceable track but far from commercial or poppy. Stylistically, this is a bit of a retro-rock song with a slight punk edge and a slight taste of angst that highlights everything about this track so perfectly. Not only is this song explosive, the message behind it is meaningful. As the band puts it, “”Supermum!” serves as an explosive call to action, encouraging open dialogue and challenging societal attitudes that perpetuate sexual violence.” Whether you like the overall sound of this song or just really get behind the message of it (which you should), “Supermum!” from Adore is a perfect pick me up song for that lazy Tuesday afternoon feeling.
