For better or for worse, I’m back from Riot Fest. Honestly, if that could be my life every day, I would be insanely happy. Even though it was work and I’m exhausted, covering Riot Fest for this blog was truly something I will never forget and I am already looking forward to doing it again next year. That being said, it’s time to get back to reality which means back to the day job, back to all of my other jobs and back to a constant grind (although this weekend was also a constant grind but it was the kind that was so amazing that I didn’t really mind). I need some music to help get me back to reality and coming in to the familiar sound of Friends With Boats on this first day back felt absolutely perfect.

I’ve shared out a couple of songs from this band before (“The Point” and “Wrong“) but I truly think that their new song “Don’t Care” is the best one yet. Like myself, Friends With Boats is a band that has aged but has never lost their passion for the music they grew up with. That’s what makes this song so perfect. It feels like Warped Tour, sounds like Tony Hawk and hits you like baggy shorts and that old school baggy shirt you used to pair with it. It’s nostalgic but oh so perfectly fresh. Stylistically, this is a punk leaning pop-punk anthem with portions what will make you want to raise your fist, portions that will make you want to two-step, and others that will hit you and just make you smile. Friends With Boats’ debut album ‘Bumper Sticker Poetry’ is out on October 4th and I, for one, can not freaking wait to put it on repeat and forget about everything else as I enjoy Friends With Boats’ distinct and perfect sound.
