Ever since I heard “Wrong” from Friends With Boats, I was determined to find a friend with a boat. That was back in March of this year and, although I never found a friend with a boat, I enjoyed listening to more and more from Friends With Boats including their new single, “The Point”.
“The Point” is a bit of a political protest song but it doesn’t have to be about that. That’s the magic of Friends With Boats. They may write their songs with one thing in mind but the way they craft everything from their lyrics to their composition of said songs leaves everything open to interpretation. They may not have meant for this to happen or even like that this is the way I’m taking it but I love how it means that “The Point” can fit into so many different scenarios therefore instantly become a mainstay in the daily playlist of your life. Regardless of what you pick up on this song message-wise, there’s no denying the angsty power that comes from this track along with a clear nod to 90s styled skate punk bands like No Use For a Name and Descendents but it comes with a modern bop to it which will get “The Point” stuck in your head in no time.
