Girl at the Rock Shows

I feel like I’ve been getting struck by a lot of music out of Canada lately both live and when it comes to the singles submitted to me daily. This is not at all a complaint but more just an observation that has me wondering what the heck they are putting in the water up there. Not sure what I mean? Take one listen to “Suicide” from Falls for the Elderly and tell me it doesn’t have you wanting to explore the scene of London, Ontario a bit more.

“Suicide” is not a new song as it came out over a year ago but don’t let that stop you from checking this epic piece of art out. The track starts slow, calm and beautiful. As Falls for the Elderly’s sound starts to expand in this track, you get to see the beauty and genius of this band truly unfold. The instrumentation stays fairly subdued and subtle while intense and shouted vocals take over and drive this track forward. After about a minute, the song finally kicks into gear and you get to witness the sheer power of this band. A wall of sound will hit you in such a powerful way before falling back into a lush yet intense vibe through the end of the track. There are rises and falls throughout this track that add a sense of dynamics to this song that I don’t think I was quite expecting but was more than impressed by. I’ll be honest, the recording quality is a bit rough here but I’m sure that just one listen to “Suicide” and you will be wanting so much more from Falls for the Elderly.
