There’s no way you can stand (or sit) there and tell me you’ve never lost your keys just to find them in the most obvious place. It happens to all of us. Maybe it’s not always the car keys. Maybe it’s your phone, your glasses, your wallet– whatever it is, we all lose things. Having ADHD makes this a habit, not just an occurrence. Although not formally diagnosed with ADHD, I think it’s safe to assume I have it (at least a little) so I am constantly trying to find things that I’ve “lost”. Why am I telling you this? Because this is the storyline behind “Car Keys” from 3AM.
I know, such a silly thing for a song to be about but I feel like the fact that this song is about something as simple as losing your car keys adds to the charm of this song and 3AM as a whole. This trio has such a fun and whimsical sound. It’s one part folk, one part pop-punk, and one part emo which, when put together, gives you that perfect feeling of a raw and relatable track. It gives you phrases to smile to and phrases to over think about as you try and figure out if, in the end, this song is really just about losing your car keys. Because I’m writing this review, it’s inevitable that I will lose my keys when I go to leave for my show tonight but, thankfully for me, I have a new and amazing soundtrack to when this happens and that will surely help keep a smile on my face as I tear through my house trying to find them.
