My body is ready for the weekend. I woke up with the nastiest headache of all time and, although I’ve tried everything to get rid of it, it’s not going anywhere. That being said, it’s a busy Friday and I can’t give in and just sleep this off so I need to power through. I’m not happy about and know that, if I don’t take a break, it won’t get better and may only get worse but checking out some new music is helping me cope.
If you still haven’t checked out The Jack Knives, I am absolutely judging you. I have shared out multiple songs from this amazing band (“Hope and Romance“, “San Juan Radio Blues“, “The Time We Had“) and am here to do it again just in case you’ve been ignoring me or just not listening. This California-based punk band just came out with “Heartbreak Queen” and it’s just as flawless, if not better, than those previously mentioned songs. This track has a very Social Distortion vibe to the instrumentation but the vocals feel a bit more fresh and almost a bit more classic rock n roll than punk. I love the blend that that gives to this nearly four- minute song. “Heartbreak Queen” is full of swagger, fire, and passion. One of my favorite things about this track are the words but, come on, you know I’m not going to give it all away. Check out this song, show the band some love, and let’s do everything we can to get The Jack Knives over here to the Twin Cities for a live show. This is one of those bands that I am becoming very desperate to see live.
