It’s a short week as far as my “Desk Job” goes which is, honestly, great. Don’t get me wrong. I oddly love my day job. It may not be glamourous as I literally sling nuts and bolts at a fastener supply company, but I love the people I work with and am able to get away with a lot when I’m here as they all know I have a million other projects happening at any given time. That being said, I’m ready for a short week where I don’t have to spend forty hours chained to this desk. This has nothing to with “Wii Motion Plus” from Desk Job. other than the name of this band but it’s early on a cold Monday morning, did you expect me to have super deep intro this early?
“Wii Motion Plus” is a song about a relationship that is maybe better left in the past. Although I feel that this was written about a relationship between two romantic lovers, I love the fact that this could apply to so many other facets of life. From the words that remind you that, sometimes, it’s best to live and let live, to the infectious chorus, Desk Job. has created a vibe in this song that is as addicting as it is energizing. Stylistically, “Wii Motion Plus” is a pop-punk jam but I felt that there was some almost Midwest emo leaning ambiance to this track that really made it pop. There are also moments throughout this song that had an almost more 90s alternative rock vibe to them. The song is perfectly highlighted by a soft tug of war between two different styled vocals and an overall cozy feeling that will cast over you throughout the three and a half minute long song. Whether you want to get deep this Monday morning or just have a song on that is enjoyable to the ears, “Wii Motion Plus” from Desk Job. is the song for you.
