Girl at the Rock Shows

I like music and bands that don’t take themselves too seriously yet come off as professional. It’s a super delicate line to balance but I just feel like you have to have fun to really catch my ear and that’s exactly what Big Muffin’ from Belgium did with their new song “(preferably) Size 37”.

As the band put it, “Ready for muffins and mayhem?”. This question may leave you scratching your head but, after getting the the fuzzy intro of this track, you will understand what they are asking. This nearly four-minute long song is full of a sense of swagger but also a breath of fresh air. There’s distortion, there’s controlled chaos, there’s talent but, more importantly, there’s this feeling that Big Muffin’ is having fun with song and I love the way that comes through loud and clear. “(preferably) Size 37” is the third single and last track on Big Muffin’s brand new EP, ‘Doggy’. Although I haven’t had a chance to check out the entire release yet, I have a feeling that it’s filled with this signature brand of angsty energy yet organic fun and I can’t wait to dig into it more.
