“Not Myself” is the first track from the debut album from 2-man-band Mesker. None of that is believable if I’m being quite honest. This definitely doesn’t sound like a first track from a debut album and sure as hell doesn’t feel like something from a 2-man-band. What it does sound and feel like is pure perfection.

I didn’t get any background on this band or this song but I knew, within second, I didn’t need it. This song is aggressive, abrasive, and so perfectly in-your-face. It makes you feel a sense of rage but in a constructive way. The way this duo edges into chaos throughout this nearly four-minute song yet never falls into the trap is genius and I feel like that, mixed with the sheer power that comes through in every beat of this track makes for a perfect little break for us all to just get lost and exhale some aggression we may have pent up in us. From moments that reminded me a bit of the dissonance that comes with Poison the Well and other moments that had an almost barked hardcore-influence behind them, I really appreciated the ebb and flow of this overall intense and heavy track.
