Girl at the Rock Shows

It just turned into a winter wonderland outside. Sure, we got some snow last night that stuck but, driving into work and thus far this morning, nothing has come down from the sky. That all just changed and now, as I look out my window, I see a flurry of, well, flurries. It makes me happy. I honestly love snow and am so ready for snowstorm. I know this is far from a storm and we probably won’t get anything more than we already have on the ground but that isn’t stopping me from feeling all warm, cozy and ready for a new track to check out.

It’s the sweetness that kicks off “Make Up” from Spinning that had me hooked with this song. It’s a fun track about falling in love but, if you listen closely to the lyrics, you realize just how raw the story is surrounding such a positive event. I love the raw vulnerability that can be heard in this song not only just in the lyrics, but also with the tender approach that the band takes with the words. Add the strong but perfectly placed instrumentation and you are left with true pop-punk perfection. “Make Up” is the second single on Spinning’s album ‘Drug’ which just came out earlier this month so, if you like what you hear in “Make Up”, make sure to spend some time with this album as a whole.
