It’s been a hot minute since I shared “Not Myself”, the first track from Mesker’s debut album but I feel like today is the perfect day to remind you that this is a band that should not be slept on.
Mesker’s sound is as moody as it is powerful, especially in this track. There’s an epic rise and fall that persists throughout this song alongside the shouted and highly emotional vocals that float above it all. “Compelled To End” is not a song for the faint of heart. Not only is there a sense f heaviness to the overall style of this post-hardcore song, but there’s a weight that seems to come with every word that, if you’re not careful, will drag you down. That sounds like a bad thing, I know, but if you like heavy and emotional music, this is a feeling that you can, at times, crave, and Mesker absolutely nails it in this quick and powerful three-minute track.
