We are finally getting the snow I so badly wanted. Unfortunately, day jobs don’t offer snow days so I still had to come to work even though I wanted to just stay at home all cuddled up on the couch. I’m a little annoyed by it but am feeling so cozy because of the falling snow and now I just need some new songs to help keep that cozy but motivated vibe going and “Challenger (oon vahvempi)” from Bad Sauna featuring Sir Liselot is doing just the trick.
“Challenger (oon vahvempi)” is a great example of how a little bit of grit can take a garage rock-styled song from good to great. Although I think it would be fair to say that this song from Finnish indie rockers Bad Sauna is a bit rough around the edges, I feel like that’s what gives this song it’s hooky charm. The entire song is a bit gritty and fuzzy but that doesn’t stop the power of this track from seeping deep into your soul. There’s depth and contrast throughout this song that is reflected so perfectly in this trippy music video that comes with the length five minute and fifteen second song. Although a bit longer than I tend to have the attention span for, the constant motion of this song (and video) kept me captivated throughout the entire thing.
