Self-sabotage is one of my signature moves. It’s something that I’m particularly good at so hearing songs about the masochism of this all-too-familiar way of life is something that always speaks deep into my soul. That just one of the many reasons that “Smile + Suffer” from Cheap Bouquet is hitting me especially hard.
Let’s just go ahead and say I’m biased when it comes to this band. I love these local rockers so much both as a band and as individual people. That being said, this angsty pop-punk anthem slaps and it slaps hard so, bias aside, I promise you this is just a super solid song that is more than worthy of your attention this morning. The energy that comes through the dual vocals and the grit that comes through in the instrumentation all come together to create a song that is bouncy and infectious but so full of heart and fire. This song, as mentioned, is about putting on that front to keep others appeased and is a look into the masochism of self-sabotage. If that doesn’t speak to you, I would love to know your secret. Through and through, this is a perfect song to listen to and obsess over on a snowy Thursday morning so what are you waiting for? Check it out now!
