I know we just got through the holiday season but it’s already time to look forward to the next one– Valentine’s Day. Whether you or not you like this holiday (I personally think it’s a scam and am not a huge fan), I have the perfect song for you to usher in this next Hallmark-created day– “An Irish Goodbye on St. Valentine’s Day” from The Rumjacks.

Okay, full disclosure, this isn’t a super happy Valentine’s day song but it’s still a charming track from this charming Celtic punk band. I’ve been a huge fan of The Rumjacks for years not only because of their Celtic-inspired sound, but because of their perfectly curated storytelling and that is absolutely in the spotlight when it comes to this song. I won’t give away the story as it’s part of the genius behind this song but I will say it’s oddly relatable and as heartbreaking as it is charming. “An Irish Goodbye on St. Valentine’s Day” is a preview of the band’s forthcoming sixth LP that is due out early this year. I’m stoked to see this band still doing their thing and the fact that, after all the years, all the albums, all the songs, The Rumjacks haven’t really changed yet continue to bring a sense of passion and uniqueness to the music world. So raise a pint, grab your mates, and dance a jig to this perfect-for-a-Monday-morning track.
