I don’t have anything on my mind right now other than how annoying strep throat is. It’s a long story, but I’m the queen of strep throat, so I have oddly gotten used to it, and it has just become part of my life, but that doesn’t make it enjoyable. Because of this miserable feeling, I feel desperate for something to distract me and catch my attention which is exactly what “GROW A PAIR” from Estrella Drive has done.
I don’t have any background on this band or this song in particular, but with such a powerful sound, I don’t need the background on this band. All I need is the energy that flows through this track, perfectly creeps out of my speakers, and takes over my soul. “GROW A PAIR” is a pop-punk-perfect kind of track. It has a very upbeat and infectious energy to it and definitely nods to nostalgia while feeling fresh and bright. I love the occasional chaotic moments that are sprinkled throughout this song. They are so perfectly placed and truly drive the point of the lyrics home while giving Estrella Drive’s sound a sense of depth that I think would have been otherwise missing. Overall, this song is one for the pop-punk songs but don’t ignore “GROW A PAIR” just because you think pop-punk isn’t your jam. The energy of this track will surely catch anyone who just loves a super well done and polished bop.
