My lunch, like my day, was nothing special. I mean, it was fine, but just didn’t spark any amount of joy into my soul that I so badly need to get through today. I guess I’ll have to hope that “Trigger Warning” from Sick As Thieves will help power me up to get through the next couple of hours.
I’m not typically one for old-sounding music, but I am when it comes to “Trigger Warning.” This thrashy absolutely has a vintage to it and instantly made me think of bands like Motorhead, but it has a modern twist. That twist comes in the lyrics. Although this song may feel a bit dated stylistically, the words are a sharp-tongued critique of what’s happening in the world today, and I love that. Another thing I love is that, although the classic rock feeling of this track is loud and clear, there are moments throughout this three-minute and eighteen-second track where Sick As Thieves changes the game completely, floating into a completely different world before aggressively landing back into this classic rock world. Is Thrash and classic metal not quite your thing? Have no fear. Sick As Thieves has somehow also put in this subtle layer of bluesy rock swagger that is so fun and intriguing to catch onto.
