Whenever I see or hear the phrase, “We Are Who We Are”, my mind instantly interprets that as the Kesha song– her voice and all. I know it’s just simple words strung together in a super ordinary way but there’s something about Kesha’s delivery of that line in her song of the same name (only spelled “We R Who We R”) that hooked me. It’s always been like that but, after hearing “We Are Who We Are” from Last Chance, I’m wondering if that will change because this song is so dang good.
Although it’s been a long time since I’ve felt heartbreak and this song is meant to be a track to help you recover from a heartbreak, I instantly felt connected to this song and Last Chance in general. Last Chance is a pop-punk band from Northamptonshire. Although the strong accent that comes through in this song makes it clear that they are not from the United States, I found myself relating to every single word of this perfectly raw and emotional bop. Add the infectious beat and the hooks that you will be singing along to even on your first listen and even if you don’t know the words (they are just that infectious) and you are left with my new favorite song. You definitely get a strong Blink 182 influence from this song but you also get a slight intensity leaning into a more A Day To Remember vibe with some of the instrumentation happening throughout this song. Either way you interpret “We Are Who We Are” or feel the beat behind this song, Last Chance will win you over with this track and inevitably leave you wanting more.
