I’ll go ahead and admit it– I’ve never seen Buffy The Vampire Slayer. Not to be that person but I’ve been a music kind of gal my entire life with very little time or attention span for TV and movies. It’s just not my thing so I never got into cult classics like Buffy. Although this new song from The Antibuddies is an ode to the “real” star of the Buffyverse, Cordelia Chase, and I know nothing about this character, I know that I love this song and love this band all the same.
“Cordelia Chase” is a quick and punch angsty bop that will absolutely get your blood pumping even on the sleepiest of Wednesday mornings. It’s a feminist punk anthem that comes chalk full of anger, grit, and fiery passion. The recording quality of this track is a bit quiet but don’t let that scare you away. Turn your volume up as loud as it can go when pressing play on this track because that’s the best way to enjoy it. I love how the vocals slightly remind me of the controlled chaos that The Blood Brothers are but that’s not an exact comparison at all. What are you waiting for? Turn up that volume, raise your fist, and let’s tear down the patriarchy together with the help of “Cordelia Chase” from The Antibuddies.
