I’m having a hard time focusing today. Don’t get me wrong, I’m getting a lot done and the day has kind of mellowed out after a manic morning, but I just feel like I can’t concentrate on anything right now. Per usual, I’m hoping that checking out a new song will bring me back down to the ground, so come on, “Nothing Can Stay,” help me get back on track!
The 2nd release off of No Tomorrow.’s upcoming EP ‘Burn Down the House.’ “Nothing Can Stay” is a classic pop-punk-style song about loss and the guilt that comes with moving on. Honestly, this is such a timely song to listen to as I (and the rest of the local music scene) come to terms with the passing of the king of First Avenue – Conrad. There’s heart, there’s passion, and, of course, there’s emotion. Although the subject matter of this song is pretty dang dark and twisty, the energy that No Tomorrow. puts into this song keeps it from going down that road. Instead, this song comes off as a shoulder to lean on, a smile to get lost in, but also a moment of remembrance for whoever or whatever you’ve lost. Long story short, “Nothing Can Stay” is a perfect song for those days when you’re struggling ever so slightly and just need a reminder that, in the end, it will all be okay because, ultimately, “Nothing Can Stay.”
