“ROARING 20’S” from manny moto and Glitch Gum was written as a Gen Z anthem. I’m not going to tell you my age but I will say that I am definitely a bit too old to be considered a Gen Z’er. That being said, I love this song all the same.
There’s something infectiously poppy about this track, but also something ridiculously angsty. It’s a political piece of sorts, about how everything is so expensiv,e but wages are still beyond low. It’s something we can all relate to, I know. Maybe this idea hits a bit harder some weeks than others, but for me, I feel like I’m constantly feeling the pinch, and I love how this song addresses it but wraps it up in a bow of positivity and comfort. Stylistically, this song feels like Owl City on Red Bull. It’s electronic-based but with a strong pop-punk influence behind it. At the same time, there’s something a bit angsty and even accessible happening behind the scenes on this song. Long story short, come for the message, stay for the sound, “ROARING 20’S” from manny moto and Glitch Gum is absolutely worth a listen this morning.
