Girl at the Rock Shows

Happy Monday, everyone. For better or for worse, we’ve made it to another week and it’s surely going to be another insane one. Although I’m bracing myself for impact of the crazy week, I’m also trying to remember to take time for the little things I enjoy like checking out new music so let’s ease into this week by taking a quick break and checking out “Rattled” by Black Suit Youth.

I thought it was almost a bit cocky for Black Suit Youth to call “Rattled” the “rock banger of the fall” but then I heard this track. “Rattled” is two minutes and forty seconds of pure power and adrenaline. It’s powerful but it doesn’t verge into chaos or even aggression. It stays almost level but hits you like a ton of breaks. Stylistically, this song has an almost 90s alt-rock vibe to it but the subtle angst makes it feel fresh and perfect for this day and age. The song itself is all about existential dread but Black Suit Youth takes that negative and daunting theme and turns it into an infectious and fun bop with ease. “Rattled” is the first song I’ve heard from Black Suit Youth but, after listening to this on repeat a couple of times, it definitely won’t be the last song. I cant wait to dig into what else this band has out there.
