I know it’s only 10:20 AM here in Minneapolis so it feels a little weird to be listening to a song called “Lonely Nights” but, truly, this song from Waiting For Summer and Gold Steps is good any time of the day and regardless of what kind of mood you’re in.
This song is about two people you can’t live with each other, but also can’t live without each other. It’s a tale as old as time, right? But what these two groups do with the message is truly something of beauty. The song starts off calm and even a little boppy but, as the track moves on, you see the tug of war that the relationship between these two people creates. There are moments of angst shadowed by moments of cozy bliss. It’s a rollercoaster ride that stays high in the sky but dips every so often as if to try and get you feet closer to the ground. Overall, this song is a stunning show of how power doesn’t have to come in the form of aggression, it can just as easily come in the form of beauty and emotion which both Waiting for Summer and Gold Steps does so well.
