Girl at the Rock Shows

I’m feeling restless as far as what to listen to today. I’m feeling nostalgic, so I’ve been lingering in a playlist full of old-school pop-punk anthems, but it’s not hitting the spot right now like it had been earlier in the day. I think I’m in the mood for pop-punk, but I could be easily swayed into something else. Maybe a little nu-metal? Maybe it’s time for something a bit folky? I don’t know, but I know that this means it’s time to take a break and check out a new track.

Nostalgic pop-punk may not be hitting the perfect spot for me right now, but that vibe with a modern twist is clearly my calling right now because I instantly became enamored by “Rooftop” from The Arcade. This is a raw, pop-punk anthem that both nods to bands of years gone by and pays homage to some of the amazing pop-punk bands out there right now. Although I instantly got hooked by the overall vibe of this track, it’s the lyrics that really spoke to me. This song is about escaping the grind that we all find ourselves in. It’s about finding a sense of clarity among the shambles of this thing we call life. I know that sounds a bit dark and dreary, but just like any great pop-punk anthem, The Arcade puts a spin on it and brings a euphoric feeling to the table that I was so badly in need of today. “Rooftop” is an ode to burnout. It’s an anthem for a rebellion, but, at the same time, is one of the most comforting songs you’ll hear today, so what are you waiting for? Check it out and show this band some love!
