I am truly “All Smiles” today. Not only was my show last night amazing, but tonight is the premiere of the Purple Rain musical, and I will be out covering it. Like I said, “All Smiles,” so it seems only fitting to start the day off with “All Smiles” from The Undertaking!

I’ll be the first to admit that this song may not be “All Smiles” for everyone. This is an intense and heavy song full of aggression and angst. For me, this is my happy music. I love the way that the intensity that radiates from this song gives me an outlet for some pent-up rage that I have after a fairly hectic morning. Although this song is all power and all intensity, it feels organized and more like a well-drawn picture than a chaotic mess of lines and patterns. The intensity behind “All Smiles” reminds me a bit of Every Time I Die, but the vocals have more of a 90s punk influence behind them, reminding me of bands like Refused. The way these two vibes blend together throughout this quick two-minute song is genius and will surely leave you wanting so much more from this San Diego-based band.
