I was out far too late last night at a heck of a show. I’m somehow both energized from the show and exhausted from the lack of sleep which has left me in a bit of a haze this morning. Unfortunately, there’s no time for this. My emails are piling up and I can already feel myself feeling a little manic about it but, thankfully, I am here to introduce you to “Let’s Go” from Matthew Heller which is absolutely the kind of song that my heart and soul needs right now.

This song, like my mind, is slightly restless but Matthew Heller harnesses this almost restless feeling into something full of grit and swagger when it comes to this show. The energy that radiates from this song is absolutely electric and I love the fact that this song isn’t trying to be too hard or too soft, it’s just right. Matthew takes time with his words when it’s needed, gives space for his beautiful instrumentation when it make sense, yet powers through this single with a sense of ferocity and fire in a very controlled way. It’s equal parts comforting and chaotic creating such an all-encompassing vibe that is impossible to not fall in love with.

I feel like my words match the little snippet that Matthew has to say about this song. From Matthew, ““Let’s Go” lives in that restless space between longing and momentum — the moment where staying hurts more than leaving, but leaving still carries its own ache. The song moves like a late-night drive with the windows down, equal parts comfort and quiet desperation, chasing the idea of home even when you’re not sure where that is anymore. It’s simple, direct, and a little haunted — a rock and roll lullaby about choosing movement, choosing connection, and hoping the road leads somewhere kinder than where you started.”

“Let’s Go” is the leading single off of a new record that he has coming out in September. I know September feels like a long way away but “Let’s Go” is one of those songs that you can easily listen to on repeat so go ahead and do that with me for the next couple of months while we wait for him to unleash ‘Dead Westerners: An American Elegy.’
