It’s a Monday morning. I’ve been at work for fifty-six minutes and I’m already over it. It’s not that it’s been a bad day or anything like that. More I just would rather be anywhere but here. Thankfully, I have “DARK FAERIE TALES” from Gypsy Pistoleros to take me away from this world and transport me to a whole other galaxy.
Gypsy Pistoleros are a self-proclaimed “cult sonic explosion” and, honestly, I think that’s such a perfect way to describe the sound here. It’s all over the place. It’s this super dramatic darkness mixed with a flare for the dramatic and these pops of swagger that feel almost like glitter. There were moments in this song that reminded me of Foxy Shazam followed up by 80’s glam punk nods and all wrapped up with this almost Rolling Stones kind of anthemic and larger-than-life vibe. To say that this band has created a full world with this song would be an understatement. Much like the drama behind the overall composition and genre-bending that happens in this track, I feel like this is one of those songs that instantly takes you away from the real world and into a dream land. I’m not going to tell you what that dream land will or should look like because that’s half the fun but I will say that if you need a little escape on this Monday morning, “DARK FAERIE TALES” is the song for you.
