There’s just something about seeing musicals that makes my heart so full and leaves me feeling energized. I got to see the Broadway adaptation of Water for Elephants last night and it was a truly lovely night which has bled into my Wednesday morning in such a beautiful way. Although I’m still my normal level of exhausted, I’m feeling rejuvenated and ready to take on the day and all of the new music that comes with it starting with “Future Paranoia” from Philip Morgan Lewis.
The title track from Philip Morgan Lewis’ upcoming album, “Future Paranoia” is all about anxiety so, yeah, you could say I instantly related to this song. Although this song has a full band sound, everything you hear is done by Philip which just goes to show the sheer talent behind this musician. It’s a wall of sound but that wall of sound never overpowers the almost electronic-feeling vocals that somehow, even with that electronic undertone, evoke an undeniable sense of emotion. The comic-book styled music video that comes with the song is just as expressive and creative as the song itself and really helps tells the story of the track. This song isn’t hard to follow and it’s not full of ripping guitar solos or moments of extreme angst or grief yet this song had me stuck and I think that, after just one listen, it will hook you as well.
